When my DGD had Chemo, an organization gave her a pink baseball hat. Where the hole is in the back someone had sewn a very long braided blonde ponytail made from yellow yarn. They told her is was her Repunzel hat. She loved it.

I think this is where they got the idea. This site adds a real hair ponytail but my DGD was happy with her yarn ponytail.

My package is on the way. We had snow all week and it didn't make it to the post office until yesterday. You should get it on Monday.

I went to get you the site I had saved and... it was no longer available! I just about cried! Hancock Fabric's used to have a free pattern on their site - I have used it for years!! - and now it is gone! :(
BUT..someone was nice enough to have saved it so when I searched they had it! LOL Check out this site: http://www.headhuggers.org/patterns/spatt01.htm
Sadly the instructions are not as complete as they used to be, but I think you can figure it out (I would be lost! not enough pictures!)

This site has links to different types - nice!: http://www.brimmingwithlove.com/patterns.html

I can personally attest that fleece is the nicest/softest and of course, it stretches! lol The Hancock pattern when it is done has NO seams inside where it would irratate the head. I am actually dissapointed in Hancock now as after looking I found they sell the pattern instead of keeping that one free :( Anyways... hope that helps! If not email me... I will keep researching!!

ugh, tired, didn't tell you the measurements they have for the 'hancock' site is for adults, you might want to guess and make it smaller... maybe 14"?? Good luck! Email if needed!

This will take you to Martha Stewart craft of the day. The sizes are included by age. The top is square but there is no reason you can't round it out. This is fleece, but since you are in Fl. I am going to try and make one from cotton jersey and add a flower or something cute. Maybe a princess scaft attached to the top? I've seen these in Disney World shops.
